How It Works? When moved down, the plate blocks the generator back feed circuit breaker and allows the main breaker to remain ON. When moved up, the generator back feed circuit breaker may be turned ON, but the main circuit breaker is blocked and will remain OFF.
What is a generator interlock kit? Generator interlock kit consists of two sliding metal plates held together by three bolts. It is a device just manual slide up and down interlock plate to allow safe back feeding of your home through a portable generator during power outages, preventing utility and generator supplies from being ON at the same time. It’s used to direct the generator power to any circuit in your house safely in the event of an unexpected power outage, so that you can use electricity normally. NOTE: Only qualified personnel should be working on any panel box. An amateur should never open or work on a panel box. Please follow all rules and regulations of the National Electric Code.
EASY TO INSTALL THE INTERLOCK KIT:
1. Power Off Power off, place the bottom plate(holes only) EXACTLY as shown
and then use the pen to mark holes through the bottom plate's holes.
2. Drill Holes Remove the panel cover from the breaker panel
and drill the three holes marked on the panel cover using the supplied 3/16'' drill bit.
3. Install Interlock
Insert the screws from rear of cover, install the bottom plate and top plate on the front cover of the breaker panel. Please make sure that the top plate can be pulled freely (enough space)

4. Test The Interlock
As shown, you see that the main breaker is ON, the generator breaker is OFF and can not be switched ON. The inter lock has been properly installed
. Lastly, apply all labels on electric panel.
